While our Local has
represented workers at Red Wing in Fredonia since the 1940’s, it became a
Union shop in 1953. As Red wing expanded, so did the Local. In
1998, it achieve representation of the new product production in the
Talcott plant and later as Red Wing because Carriage House
Companes. As of February 1st of 2003, the Local became the
representative of all production, maintetance, and warehouse workers at all
three of the Carriage House facilities in the Dunkirk-Fredonia Area of
Chautauqua county New York. This growth has increased our membership
from a little over 300 plus in 1997 to over 550+ at present.
The local has been a part of the Firemen and Oilers. In 1994, the
Firemen and Oilers voted to join the Service Employees International Union
(SEIU) as the National
Conference of Firemen and Oilers
(NCFO). |
